Series 2 thick gears or series 3?

I was wondering if anyone may be able to help here.

I have a GM 7.5 series 2 posi with 2.41 gears and wanted to upgrade to 3.73's

I found a set of 3.73's that are supposed to be for a series 2 carrier the "thick" gears and before buying I was wondering if anyone can tell me the thickness of the ring gear for either series 2 or 3? so I can then confirm if these are indeed series 2
Hope this makes sense.

Thanks.

2-Series fits 3.08 and numerically lower carrier. 3-Series fits 3.23 and numerically higher carrier.

if you had 2.41 you have a 2 series carrier and if the 3.73 gears are for the 2 series you wont have any issues

Yes, I understand that. But I would like to confirm these are actually series 2 - 3.73 gears before spending my money.

That's why I need to know the thickness of the ring gear so I know exactly what I'm getting. If someone can tell me how thick a series 2 or 3 - 3.73 ring is I can go back and measure the ring gear.

Your best bet is to phone you local gear supplier and get them to give you the thickness of a standard 3.73:1 gears

Are you going posi or an open 3.73? I have an open 7.625 unit for free (just pay shipping) needs bearings and such.
