shifter adjustment

Hi

I have an 87 ss i put the stock shifter back in and column linkage. I am end of adjustment for the cable on the linkage and cant get it into low gear manually. It seem like i need just alittle more adjustment. Any ideas would help.

If you have the wrong Shifter or wrong Cable you will have that problem.
3-speed Shifter or Cable wont allow Low/1st gear position with a 4-speed Trans.
Many Stores will supply the wrong Cable & they are sometimes too short even when the correct Cable is supplied.

i have all the right stuff and cable can i just elongate holes on bracket and move it back till its tight
