Im thinking about getting one of these. my car is sbc 600hp or so havent dynoes it. Im looking for one of those converters that feels like a stock converter cruising but when at the track i can have a high stall. Like i said i havent dynoed it so i dont know what the peak torque is im guessing some where around 5000 rpms
355 9:1 Afr 195 sollid roller cam 106 lsa 290 adv dur , 3000-6600rps 6:71BDS blower 12 psi th400 28 inch tire 4:11

who sold you on a 106 lsa with forced induction??? id be more worried about that before even thinkin about a converter. plus with the blower peak torque will be much lower than a n/a setup im thinking somewhere around 4k. x4 call hughes they will hook you up.

I can help you with converter selection. While dyno #'s are always helpful, I don't have to have them, but I do need some more information. You'll need to locate your cam card and provide me with lift, advertised duration, duration @ .050", lobe separation, and intake centerline if possible. I also need to know vehicle weight, carburetor size, header primary tube size and length, collector size and length, exhaust system size/design/length, style of rear suspension, tire width and type, and intended use of the vehicle.

I can tell you right now that if the lobe separation you're stating is correct, then you're going to need to change your camshaft before you go any further. The valve overlap created with a high duration/tight lobe separation design cam is going to be such that you're going to be pushing a lot of your air/fuel mixture right through the cylinders and out into the exhaust on the overlap event. Once the engine builds some RPM and cylinder pressure begins increasing, the pressure rise in the cylinders is going to spike so rapidly that detonation is going to be difficult to control.

Please feel free to contact me at any time. I'll be happy to help you get everything sorted out.

im mistaken cam card says center line is 106 lobe seperation is 110
248 duration at 50.... 555 lift with 1.5 rockers
two 450 cfm carbs
header size not big under 2 inches long tubes i know the collector is 3.5"
th400 transmission
9 inch rear 4:11 gears 28x10.5x15 tires
im not sure what the weight is a/c is deleted cowl hood blower ads weight and also the transmission and 9 inch does too aluminum heads lower weight maybe makes up for the blower
im asuming higher then stock weight 3700lbs??
suspension stock 6 cylinder springs i hear they are the the best around from different people
intended use is drag and driving around town no long trips

i would think 110 is a little too tight as well. 112-114 would be better suited.

from what i read about it with too tight of lobe seperation is it goes out the cylinder too fast. you loose boost but gain horse power.
