Recently I replaced my entire column. Its a column shift and I removed all linkage to use a floor shifter. When I turn the key to the start position it moves freely with no spring at all. When I hooked up the column I didnt bolt the module with the wires down near that silver rod on top. Its just stuck in between. Does this not being positioned right have anything to do with it?

I did a little more research and read something about the ignition switch and some kinda rod. Whats the correct way to position the switch and the rod?

Put the key in the Off position (where you cannot put it to lock without rotating the collar) and then put the ignition switch in the same position (the switch will click into position), then lock it down.

If yours moves freely, either the rod has come off of the switch end, or it has fallen out.
