On Friday, I went for a drive and all of a sudden I heard a sound like scratching a chalk board. I had just changed my PS belt, so I pulled over and all belts were there. I moved on and the sound was was still there.

Applying the brakes did not stop the sound, but moving the steering left/right changed the sound slightly.

Fortunately, I was only about a mile away from home, so I drove slowly home and investigated yesterday.

Who wants to guess what the problem was?

Rock or debris dragging on the brake rotor?
Have you done the Blazer brake upgrade?
I had a Blazer and it happened often on that truck that rocks, acorns, or those sticker balls from the trees would get caught between the rotor and brake caliper bracket. At least once a year.

Bingo...first time.

Yes, it was a small rock 1/2 x 1/4 caught between the rotor and the shield. I have the stock brakes and have never had this happen before. I have no idea how it got there; I was driving on a normal paved road. Must have just been lucky, I guess.
