There should be small clip(s) that hold it on....they basically just pinch the widest ring of the spring to the hood and are held down by one screw each. You could make them out of flat stock with a hole drilled for the screw. Should see the holes in the hood, the spring will match up with the small pocket that locates it in the rad support.

Make sure you have the radiator support .......if not on some G-bodies the spring will slip over the edge hook and you cant unlock your hood......ask me how I know. 8-[

There are 3 small clips that will hold the spring in place, I just can't seem to get the spring underneath all 3 of them. Obviously, it will be a really tight fit. It seems that it is going to take a lot of force to put in. I just had the hood painted and looking to get it in with minimal damage/scratches. Thanks

If you are adding one to a fiberglass hood, I pop-rivet-ed mine to the hood with some small plastic clamps like the one used to hold or route wiring.
