So as some may know and have experienced if you run a roundy round style metric caliper mount, for rear disk. The caliper is too wide and will make contact with the frame over bumps.

can anyone real quick find out how wide the metric caliper is
so i can compare to the wilwood caliper

its hard jusify spending big coin on a new rear brake system

thanks in advance

Are you talking about the bolt on rear brake kit like the one Speedway sells? I was considering ordering one of those kits, but now you have me curious if that kit will work. $299.99 is a lot more realistic for rear disks than what some of these companies are offering. Most I have seen are $800+

I measured a stock metric caliper. 5-1/8" wide at the widest part of the caliper (from the outside of the caliper to the casting that sticks out around where the brake line inlet is)

I didn't see anything on the Speedway website but are the kits similar to the ones form Day Motorsports?

http://www.daymotorsports.com/product/1762/c/S2/

I was considering one of these but I don't know if it would work with c-clip eliminators. Plus I guess it's definately out if the caliper hits the frame.

the rotors in the day kit look shalow compared to the ones that i have. just be sure not to get any deep had (3'') rotors and it should work.

my brackets are already welded so i didnt want to change them if i dont have to

This is the kit from speedway I was referring to:

Is this similar to the kit you are talking about that hits the frame?

They're a direct replacement, so logically they would have the same external dimensions.

I think I'm going to end up using a weld on kit because I'm going with c clip eliminators and wont be able to use the bracket they give you. Speedway has 2 kits. One with a 3 inch hat and the other with a 1.59. I guess I will have to use the 1.5 since the 3 inch hits the frame but I'm just curious if there will be any problems with the caliper interfeering with the wheel.

J-rod, how much room do you have between your caliper and the back of your wheel? The caliper measures slightly less then 1.5 from where it touches the front of the disc to the outside of the caliper. Now if it has a 1.59 inch hat I'm thinking it's gunna be pretty close but should clear. I just hate to spend 300 bucks to find out it doesn't.

Here's a link ot the ones I'm looking at.
