:-k Hey Guys-- I just bought a set of MT ET Drag radials, and was wondering what the correct tire pressure should be for street driving, and what pressure for the drag strip. I usually run 16# in my MT ET slicks (28X9.0X15) and i bought the 275/ 60R / 15. My car is a 3500# Buick Regal, w/ 355, and 4:10 rear. Current 60 ft-- 1.68-1.70 on well worn slicks. Car runs 12.20's 1/4 mi. One guy did mention that u have to run a little more air in the radial slick-- like maybe 18-20#. I want them to last a little while, and hope to get at least a season out of them. I only have to drive about 10 mi. to the local track. Any suggestions would be very welcome, and appreciated. Many thanks, Dean 8)

I would start at 25 and go down from there... I am going to put 17 in my hooiser slicks tomorrow and give it a shot. Thought about going with the radials but I will just chew them up on the street so I went with a full slick and kept my street tires mounted up!! Good luck with those and let us know how they hook!!

:-k WOW-- I'm surprised that he runs 25#-- I would almost think that they would spin, but I may be wrong. This is my first attempt at radial slicks, so it's going to be a whole new experience. I was thinking about 18-20#, since I run 16# in my 28-9.00-15 MT slicks, and thought that should work, but I'll take your advise, and start at 25, and see how it hooks, and works. I did screw the tires to the rims, since the rims were already drilled for my slicks, so I won't have to worry about turning the rim in the tire. Any other guys-- let me know what u found successful-- and thank you all for ur input-- Dean 8)

:D Hey Guys-- Thanks again-- madmoose-- did u say you have had these tires for 3 YRS!!!! OMG-- I was thinking that they would be good for a season. I'll be ecstatic if they last that long. I only have to drive 10 mi to my track, and don't do much in the way of street driving. tyster--that's a screamin 60 ft with a drag radial-- I'm currently at about a 1.68-1.70 60 ft, and the slicks are pretty well worn, but not bald. If my 60 ft picks up. I'll be very happy. I'm going to the track in the morning-- SOOOO I'll post on here tomorrow the results, and let you know what I find, and how I like them--- Once again-- Many thanks to all of you for your ideas, experiences, and suggestions-- Dean 8)

fwiw every car is gonna be different, my buddies car 60's 1.6's on the footbrake and spinds with 18 and spun with 14, 16.5 works the best. Its a 275/50. I hear most guys starting at 14 and working their way up till they work best.

:D Hi again guys-- Well it was an interesting day at the track. I started with 24#, did a reasonable burn out, and the 60ft got worse, at a 1.74. I dropped tire pressure to 22, and did another reasonable burnout, and it picked up to a 1.70, pretty much where i was at with my slicks. I then went to 20#, and got the best results there so far, with a 1.68. I read over the specs on my MT slicks @ 28X9.00X15, and the MT Drag radials,275X60RX15 , and they are a little bit bigger. I can physically see that, in the rear height on my car, plus the advertised specs on the radial tire. I think that the 255X60RX15 is that same size as my MT slicks, so I did go larger. I did pick up + 2 1/2 MPH though, and was pleased with that. A couple guys told me not to do too much of a burnout, as the radials will glaze over, and will spin, so I was conservative on the burnout. What are ur experiences in that area?? I'm going to pick away at tire pressures, with ur suggestions, and see where it is the best. We have a Test N tune on Wed, so I do some more experimenting then, and will post the results. Once again, Many thanks to all for all ur help-- Dean 8)

My buddy has an 04 GTO (easyily 4200lbs) running 12.15 with 18lbs in the drag radials.(1.68 60ft). He mentioned something about breaking them in(?). Told me he had to heat cycle them or they would get hard. Again I don't know 100% what he meant, maybe someone with drag radial knowlegde will. He does just a moderate burnout, not alot of smoke and they hook good. With the compounds on slicks these days I don't think you really need to melt the tires. Looks cool but totally a waste of money. This will be his 2nd year with the tires and they still have a ton of tread/use left.
