OK guys and gals. Ive been wrenching on this stuff for alot of years now and I think that I have a first for me. Put the engine and trans in the malibu about 2 weeks ago. 350 turbo. Yesterday I noticed a little smoke from under the car. I had just taken it for a short ride. transmission fluid... Put it in the air and I swear that the converter is leaking up around the crankshaft side of the converter near or at the hub. Its a 10 inch converter and I can see the seal and pump area pretty good. Its dry on the pump side.. Summit is sending me a new converter.. My question is,, how common is this ??.. I took the converter bolts out and everything is fine. Hoping its just a bad weld or something. Has anyone else on here ever had this happen??

Well, I swapped out converter over the weekend. I am now a member of " I never seen that before" club. Bad weld on the crank hub. Pretty easy to see. All is good.. At least for now..LOL..
