Hey everyone,
I just dropped in a brand new 383 in my 80 malibu and under acceleration it vibrates so bad that the car feels like its gonna fall apart!
The transmission and rear are the same one i used with my old set up so i know it's not from them. I did put a new converter in with the motor though.
The timing isn't set yet so it was just a quick trip up the driveway but in the 40 feet i drove it, i heard a misfire and felt the vibration.
Does anyone have any advice as to where i should even start.

Are you running solid motor mounts, solid transmission mount, body mounts etc...?? Let us know what you have before we start throwing out possible engine issues...

You need to start with the harmonic balancer and flywheel. Was it balanced? With what flywheel and balancer? Did these change? Sometimes a 383 is externally balanced depending on the crankshaft used. Check these 3 components out.
