This "filler" is factory, It almost seems like lead, just as soft but a magnet will stick to it. It sands like lead or some other soft metal. It is on all for corners of the roof/pillars. Also look at the picture with the crack that is circled with a marker, thats on the front roof pillar, I was thinking of welding a bead across it then grinding it down. Not sure. Any ideas?

I usually melt it out with a torch, weld the seam, then fill with duraglass.

You're "not supposed" to grind/sand lead due to it going airborne.

It's been my experience that the leaded seams are seldom close to being what they should be as far as making a nice seam, and about half of them have corrosion under the lead.

Little known fact: most GM cars of the 70s had plastic filler if they were vinyl top cars, lead if painted top.

I was not sure, I just was not expecting lead. Ok , I'll try melting it out from the crack. Thanks for the info.
