I'm looking to buy a mickey thompson ET street radial tire. What tire size would you recommend buying to help with correct gear ratio for 1/4 mile racing?? I have 355 motor shifting ,6700 rpm's,350 transmission w/3000 stall,9"w/4/11 gear. I have 255x60x15 on rear now. That's a 27" tire, i'm worried about clearance w/275x60x15, frame is not notch or lip rolled. I do have dbl. adj. control arms and rear disc. conversion kit to help . That tire is 28" tall, the same as my hoosier drag slick,it seems like i'm running out of gear w/ that tall of tire. Any one running 235x60x15, and able to still hook??? That's a 26" tire.

If you're running out of gear with that tall of a tire you need to go to a taller gear (3.90, 3.73, 3.55, etc.), a shorter tire will effectively make your 4.11 numerically higher (consider it going to something like a 4.56, etc.).

i have 28" tall m/t's with a turbo 350, 3200 stall, and 4.10's and i'm running through around 6,000 rpm. i'd say you could easily go to a 26" tire and be fine. hooking shouldn't be a problem as long as you get a wide enough tire.
