whats the deal???

started working on the front brakes, pulled the caliper and rotor and noticed the rotor has some sort of gasket/seal on the back side, which holds in the bearings, among other things. can these seals be replaced or do you have to buy all new rotors? and yes, I am quite dense when working on brakes, so after the laughter, please enlighten me on this subject. also, how do you all feel about retaining the dust/splash guard? as always, thanks for any and all help...wannabe

Seals are replaceable.......I'd keep the dust/splash guards.
