AFAIK, 255/60 15 is as big as you can go with zero mods. 275's go if you roll the lip & your axle is centered well.

I have a 295/50/15 on the rear of my 81 Malibu. I did rolled the outer wheel well lip. Rally rims with four inches of backspacing.

Do the tires fit nicely inside the wheel well?
And do you have any pictures.? I need new tires for my wagon and want to get the biggest possible, but everyone says different sizes..

LS6 Tommy says 255/60
Others say 275/60
And now you say a 295/50

so confused and I only want to buy tires once.

Thanks

Here`s a set of 295/50/15`s on the rear off my 81 Malibu. As I said before I did roll the outer wheel well lip. I removed the rear shocks and added weight to the trunk and back seat so the suspension bottomed out and rolling the outer lip was all that was needed. I had 275/60/15 on my 78 El Camino with a 8 inch rim with the same backspacing and did nothing to the wheel well and had not problems. Not sure if your wagon shares the wheel well with the Malibu or wagon. Ether or rolling the outer lip should do it unless they hit the frame.
