I'm trying to shuck some weight and I want to try and get rid of the crash bars. Has anyone here done this? Is it worth the weight savings? Any pics of how to remove them? The car is a 82 malibu wagon if it matters. Car weighs 3150 now I'm trying to get below 3000 maybe 2800 if possible. Thanks if you can help.

Its worth it IMO. I would not do it if you drive on the street or don't have a roll bar. They might save your life. I cut mine out with a cutoff tool. I can tell you it was a pain in the rump when I did mine.

Here's a look at em from the other side. ^^^ like Ed Cannon said, it's gotta be a PIA from the inside but doable.

The rear you can drill the spot welds the front will have to be cut. People panic about taking them out but old cars didn't have them. I know my 69 Camaro doesn't have them probably any other car from that year or below.
