What kind of setup are you using? If its a stock suspension car, I think I would go with a Strange adjustable shock and leave the spring in the stock location. I still haven't gotten on board with putting the weight of the car on the lower shock mount. If you are going to put a dedicated upper shock mount and mount the shocks vertically with your roll bar tied into the upper shock mounts then by all means go coil over. I ran single adjustable Strange coil overs in my Chevelle into the low nines with a 1.26 60' time. With more power I ran a double adjustable Strange shock mount into the 8's with a 1.21 60' time. If you can afford it up front, go double adjustable. If you can't then go with the single. I have heard good things about the Viking shock as well, but I never ran them.
