Question about wheels & tires for our longroof.

Ok, fixing to order some wheels for my Wagon. This is what I am looking at.

Front:

Wheel: 17x7 w/4" back space
Tire: 215/45/17

Rear:

Wheel: 18x8 w/4.5" back space
Tire: 235/40/18

I know the wheels will work, just wondering on the tires since I don't know much about the bigger sizes. I don't want a real thin sidewall. I want something for comfortable cruising. 8)

Then I'd suggest staying away from 17" & 18" wheels, especially with small tires like the 215s & 235s you're looking at. With a 45 & 40 series tires you'll have very little sidewall. Besides, those small tires would look like rubber bands on 17" & 18" wheels. I run 60 series 235 front/255 rear on 15" wheels & they really don't look all that big.

Too late, already ordered the wheels..LOL! I went and checked out some tires locally and they sizes I am going with are not too bad. Just hopes everything fits inside the wheel wells. dancin_banana.gif

Ok, after talking to my buddy who was in the tire business for years and years and is also a G man, he told me to go with these sizes:

Front: 235/45-17

Rear: 255/45-18

Said it will be a good mix of looks and ride quality. These are just going to be my show car / cruising wheels.

For the drag races I plan on running a 15x5 steelie rally wheel and a 15x8 rally with dog dish caps. Got to keep the locals guessing. dancin_banana.gif
