Iv'e never messed with a power adder before so bear with me...But Im thinking of building a 380ci sbc with a 76mm turbo. Is it doable to run low low 9's or high 8's @ 3300lbs? This will be a blow thru deal on E85. This will be a true street car that will be ran at the local brackets.

Can I go bigger cubic inch? I have a Little M with 4.125 bore,350 mains, and standard deck,or should I drop to 360ci? Is a 76mm big enough?(for 380") Do I "need" to run a boost controller? I know a good fuel system is needed as well as a good ign. system. But what else is a "must need"?

Im totally dumb when it comes to turbo's-as if you couldn't tell, lol

I don't know what the maximum potential is, but I do know that quick79 went this fast with an out of the box 75mm S400.

To use the 75~76 mm around 300 cid or smaller 4.6, would recommended for a race set up. 327 would be larger.
380 is even a little large for X275 88mm limited class.
Turbos are air pumps. Too small of pump and too large of a motor is a bad combo.
Also the larger the motor the less hp a same size turbo can support.

He bought it as the standard 75mm S400, and ran it for a little while before sending it back to Dave and having the compressor wheel and housing changed in favor of an 80mm.

I'm 99% sure this vid was taken right after he got it running right and still 75mm. Sorry the link didn't work in the above post, I posted it from my Droid, and I guess I did something wrong lol.

This vid is for sure with the 80mm wheel.

A true 88 would be small for a 380 trying to run X275. A 88~91mm would be a good starting point and a small er turbo could be used for your goal. a 91mm is a little larger for your goal but it will give you the ability to more more air and generate less heat.

There is a lot more to added a turbo than the turbo itself.

Headers
Hotside plumbing
WasteGate
Carb or EFI
Boost ref fuel system and return system
BOV
Intercooler
Water Tank & Pump & Lines
Coldside plumbing

Ignition
Engine
Trans
Drivetrain
Chassis
That can handle the desired power.

Not to detract from a turbo powered motor but all too often too many people only look at the turbo and over look the balance of the parts to complete the system.
