Will a Borg Warner t56 that was in a 73 Camaro fit a 78 El Camino? My78 has an engine from a 73 El Camino. Will I need to shorten the drive line?

Yep you will need to use either the clutch linkage for a GBody and a clutch pedal.

or the Camaro slave cylinder along with an aftermarket clutch pedal

one made for a T56 into a gbody

gforce makes them as do others, you will also need the frame extension for the Xmember

I forgot about that.

Late to the show, but there is an adapter to mount a T56 to the old school bellhousing... you just need an LS style input shaft (easily changed) and an extended pilot bushing. This way you can use stock G-Body bellhousing and clutch mechanicals. You should be able to just use a regular 153-tooth flywheel too with a 10.5" clutch that has a 1.125" x 26 spline opening.
