I'm sure this has been covered many times here. I'm new here, so I'm not sure if I'm in the right spot for these ?s.
My son has an 80, 355, TH 350, Flowmaster exh., etc. Rather than going thru the expense of getting a GN 8.5, or a 9", I have several 12 bolts, which I thinks he should use. Is it just the upper conversion control arm that we have to get??
What's the backspace on the wheel end being if we use the wider 68-72 A body rear., which I would prefer he use. This is for a street car with occaisional strip time. I have everything except street gears, also if he got more serious about racing I have complete Strange 33 spline setups on hand for these width rears.
Thanks Don

I think that those 12-bolts are about 1 7/8" wider wheel to wheel, so a 5" or 5.5" backspace on an 8" wheel works out.
7" wheel with the standard 4" b.s. also works.
Yes on the upper arms.

Thanks
On the lower control arms, the stock G body's will work??
Are the A body's LCAs different? as I have a set of aftermarket ones for an A body.
On the wheels, we have several sets of Camaro, MC 7' Rallyes and 8" Vette ones, along with CL Autodrags, and others, 7,8 10s but I don't think any are 5-5 1/2" bs. I guess we better check the wheel stash for bs, just don't want to get into custom wheels, etc. He likes the Rallyes the best.

i have a chevelle rear end under my car, but i'm not sure what year. my 15x8 draglites with 4.5 b.s. fit ok, but the tire will rub around turns and over bumps. regular 15x8 rallys (4 inch bs) stuck out way too far, looked stupid. maybe wheel vintiques can make a rally with 5 inch b.s.?

The 7" rally wheel fits perfect for street tires, or a narrow slick.

I have a '69-'70 Chevelle 12-bolt installed(but still needs to be removed and detailed and reinstalled). My combo is Centerline Warrior 15X8.5 with 5" b.s. , 26X11.5-15 M/T ET Streets. Also have '70 Monte Carlo rear springs they lowered it about 2" so the tire is a little close to the fender lip but if you have stock springs there would be no problems. I can almost stick my big ole hand between the tire and frame. Here's a few pics.

Wow, how wide are the rims?

The 65-67 housings are nearly the same as the original, narrower than the 68-72 housings.
