Right now I am changing from small block to big block. So far I bought .060 over 454 , 496 stroker crank, and 6.385 rod. I also bought 781 oval-port head. I have not bought the pistons yet because there are couple options with compression and not sure what 781 heads CC's , valve size. So far I think it is 113cc with 2.06/1.72 . Is that right? I am not doing the engine by myself, but my local shop is doing this for me. I just want to learn more about it and head into the right direction. My plan is to make 50% street and 50% strip. Also which flat tabbet hyd. cam would be best for me. Any advice would be great. Thanks.

im running a big block, went with eagle steel crank, eagle forged 6.385 rods, and srp flat top pistons makes around 8.0-8.5:1 compression with the right head gaskets and 119cc patriot aluminum heads.

they are a good head but are 119cc-122cc arent they? what kind of compression are you looking for just 10.5:1 or so? for street manners i went with low compression due to the 871 blower thats sitting on top haha.

Yes I am looking for street manner with good number at track. Will the flat top piston be good for street or can I go for the dome pistons. This will be with 781 heads. Sorry for more questions, I am really excited and my first big block. :D

My 461 runs great on pump gas 9.7:1.

I ran the the 781's with flat tops and an edelbrock performer rpm intake and cam .560 / .573 worked great on the street and put the monte into the low 12's.

The 781's are 113cc 2.06 and 1.72. They are a good head, but with the 496 stroker you might consider putting 2.19 valves in them.
