80 malibu help

Post by ghostrider » Tue Oct 23, 2018 8:36 am

hi ive purchaced a 80 malibu roller still has the interior. It came with a ford 9in and some extra parts etc. Im putting in a 598 with nos, turbo 400 with trans brake. ive talked to a few people about bullet proofing the rear suspension without tubbing it. I live in new jersey and looked at a few chassis places and they have all kinds of stuff like anti roll bars, control arms i already did front end with tubular upper and lower a-arms with coilover shocks any suggestions or anybody you can suggest to go to to get the rear suspension work done thx

The problem is you can put all that fancy stuff in and it wont be worth a poop unless you brace the chassis.

After a couple of passes with slicks you will either twist the chassis or crack it

I'm sure you must have a cage ?

tubular rear bars, anti roll bar, and braces from the control arm mounting points on the frame. However with that kind of power you might as well just tub it. i'm running a N/A 540 pump gas with around 750 hp and mini-tubbed. Runs 9.7 - 9.80. Traction is a real battle. Tires are 29.5 x 10.5 ET drags.
