im installing a wc t5 from a 86 v8 camaro in my 86 elco and have everything.i have a question reguarding the tailshafts from a s10 and the camaro.im goin with a 60/40 bench seat from a 93 s10 and have already fabbed up and installed the bench n my el,it is notched and has a cup houlder provision in the notch(which id like to keep there)would it be better to use a s10 tailshaft to get the extra 'forward space" or would the camaro one i have work? just looking at it mocked up in the cab id say id need the s10 tail??? im also wanting to use the s10 shifter(if possible,as it looks exacly the same beside the curvature on the s10?) will the s10 tail bolt directly in place of the camaro tail? and would the driveshaft be the same length as the el camino 350 i shortened 3"(58.5)or would i need another ds? any and all info gathered will be GREATLY apprciated!!!

On a T5,the tailshaft housing, lid, and mainshaft are a set. The speedometer gear location is in a different place between the S10 and Camaro, so you really need to also change the mainshaft unless you want to use GPS as a speedometer.
If you keep the Camaro mainshaft, the driveshaft will not be affected.
Since the seat is already notched, the easiest solution is to ditch the cup holder or move the cup holder between the shifter and the dash.
The S10 shifter has a taller tower than the Camaro shifter, so it has shorter throw to accommodate the long S10 handle. You can thread the end of the shifter stub for a knob or you can modify the S10 shifter to accommodate a removable handle, like I did in my wagon:

ok i see,thank you for the schooling!!! i have 2 s10 tailhousings complete,so i just wanted to see if it would make that much of a differenc in the placement of shifter mount.so i definetly want to use the s10 shifter and stick,so is it interchangeble? thanks for the info!!!

VERY NICE custom stick!!! now seeing the actual area where the s10 tailshaft would land the shifter,i think ill go ahead with the camaro tailshaft i have,a lil TOO far forward for my application,as id like to put in my breadbox,and fab in a cuphoulder in between the box and the shifter,and eliminate the one between the seat(like t5mc suggested)with these pics and tutorial from t5mc i think im set in the RIGHT direction!! If you look at the 96 -2002 blazer consoles with manual trans you might be able to fab something up with a bench seat pretty easy.
VERY niCE!!! are those the seat covers from gbodyparts??? yeah im looking into various configurations for my set-up that id like to inorporate the bread box in.THANKS for the food for thought!!!
