I finished putting a big block in my car and now the transmission in second is slipping (2004r). When I bought the car the tv cable was off and I am thinking was something to do with the bad trans. My question is for a big block just fun to drive car (lower budget) am I better off building a junkyard 2004r to put back in or swapping to a turbo 400. The big block is a mild cam with intake/headers. I have a 2500 stall convertor in it now but can buy a 400 convertor or even just put a stock one on.

if you don't care about overdrive stick in a turbo 400, they are way stronger than that 200r4.

If you want "fun to drive" stay with the 2004r Trans. It will need a few upgrades to handle the BBC's torque tho'. A Forward Drum w/Billet or Hardened Shaft is recommened + the usual Hardened Sun Shell and Stator Support + Shift Kit.
To swap in a TH400, you can use the 2004r Crossmember, Driveshaft will need a 32-spline Slip Yoke, shortening may not be needed with correct Yoke. A 400 w/4" Tail is 3/4" longer than a 2004r. Cooler Lines will need tweaking. Electric Switch if you want Passing Gear.
