Hi, I have a 86 Monte SS, doing the T56 swap. Wondering what shifter you guy's are using. I have 60/40 split bench. I have the Camaro shifter and it hits the pass seat. Just trying to see before I order anything. Thanks Ray

That shifter is made for a 55-57 with a bench.

Your best bet is to make a pattern with a wire hanger. Then hit the swap meets at Belmont etc.

If you have a torch you could alway heat up and bend what you have now to make it work.

If you have or know someone with a welder you can do this

Also another nice option is to notch the bench seat or replace it with a notched bench seat.

Something like this

Keep in mind since you already have a 60/40 split.

Installing a set of Monte / G-body bucket seats is a simple bolt in because you already have the inner mounts on the floor board.

Might be another option foe you.

That was the shifter that I made to fit the bench seat in my wagon. I still cut a notch in the steel base of the seat frame to help the fit, but did not modify the upholstery.

To start with, I disassembled the shifter base and rotated the shaft 180 degrees so it faced forward.
