i have a BRF code 200-4rr4 from an 87 GN to go into my wagon, the engine is a 355 with a healthy cam (no idea, its in my Dads engine). i know he needs a vacuum can to run his brakes.

looking for converters, all the ones i see advertised are for 82-84 only. are there special ones for 85-87?

as for a converter, this will see 95% street time and 5% track time. so something a little higher over stock is what im looking for.

this is what i was thinking of:

1982 - 1987 200-4R torque converters interchange without any issues. The '82 - '84 notation really only applies to the 700R-4 transmission as the '82 - '84 model years feature a 27-spline input shaft which allows 700R-4 and 200-4R converters to interchange in those model years.

What rear gear ratio are you running in your wagon? How much vacuum does the engine pull when idling in gear?

im running a 3.42 rear, also an 8.5" from an 87 GN. as for the vacuum, i don't have a gauge, but i can pick one up and find out.

Be sure the converter has a lock-up clutch inside.

My MCSS stock would rev to roughly 2300-2400 on the foot brake. I have to wonder if 2400 stall would be any different than the GN converter?

Just checked it. Idling in park, it's 12-13" and idling in gear is 10.5-11". Keep in mind, this is with a 30 year old gauge from my grandfathers garage.
