This is a thread about narrowed and tucked bumpers. That might also inspire you

Jack, was there supposed to be a link?

Jess, thanks for another option and the pics. I agree that I would like to keep the bumpers chrome, but Jack's bumpers look so good that I'm willing to sacrifice that.

Happy New Year!

Scott,
I'm sorry. I was going to include the link, but for some strange reason I can't find the thread... #-o
I would've liked to have the bumpers chromed, but it would be costly. However, I did think about going with "chrome paint". It also isn't a cheap process, but from what I've seen, it looks pretty good.
I will try to find that link and post it for you.

Happy New Year!

Here's a car that belonged to a former member on this site. I got some of my ideas from this car.

Jess, the rear bumper tucked without being cut on an El Camino looks good. I think because the Elky has those protrusions on the lower quarter panels.

Yeah I think its best to keep the bumper covering those little bumps on the back of the elky, thats why I've never liked the roll pans on them.

If anyone really cares now that Jack has shown how it should REALLY be done,

REAR BUMPER FILLERS........all three pieces.

Jack,

That work is outstanding my friend.
I passed on a factory 4 speed wagon because to fix a windshield rust issue it would take an A post (from the cowl) to B post roof section.
WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY more work than I wanted.
Now I see I could have just sent it to you to be fixed!

Excellent! Thanks for the link (and I do care). I haven't talked to my body guy yet about tucking the bumpers, but this gives me the option to keeping them the way they are if he doesn't want to attempt it and if having them re-cromed will be out of my budget.
