I drove the Malibu pretty hard on the factory clutch setup, and the only time it didn't grab hold was when I was shifting fast as I could, even then it was just a very short slip, you should have nothing to worry about.

That doesn't happen with the Hays disc that I have. At the track, I chirped 4th gear (the T5 will allow you to shift without lifting the gas pedal). the disc looks like it has wires in it, yet it still engages smoothly.

Mike, the pedal bushings are common for almost all GM applications for many years. Dorman/HELP has them.

as far as the reverse lock out, I just hooked mine up to the brake light switch...it disengages when I hit the brake

That is an interesting idea. Did you splice into the brake light harness? or use the other socket (for cruise control release) and install a separate brake lamp switch?

I just spliced into the brake light harness, but I suppose that using the other socket would be better

I was considering that or a button on the shifter ball if I went with a T56.

Can the solenoid be removed altogether? Is it common to miss the 6th gear gate and engage reverse by mistake? Or can something else be put in its place with a spring that is stiffer than the 5-6 gate, but not overwhelming?

Have you decided whether to replace the tailshaft housing with a modified one? or to use the device that converts VSS pulses to a motor that spins the speedo cable?

Killerdave8813 uses the converter in his car.

I'm going to convert the trans to a mechanical speedo, don't want to run extra wires, and converting isn't much more than the cost of the box.

Anyone relocate the shifter on a stock t-56?

This has taken a back seat until I finish putting the 2 door back together
