3800 Series II

Does the 3800 Series II bolt up to TH350, 200?

Also what are the differences between ones from FWD vs. RWD if any?

Just trying to figure out more options with the V6 idea, seeing as I'm not sure I'll keep the 229.

Pretty sure they use the bop pattern, if no one knows for sure I'll look tomorrow.

I bought a 3800 out of a firechicken to put in my 62 buick but dont think Im smart enough to make it work. :?

Does this also include ones out of the late model Regals and Grand Prix's and such?

Because if so, that could mean we have an awesome thing going on.

Just hope there is a way to utilize all those FWD 3800's...

So it looks like the newer 3800's use the GM 60° V6 family bolt pattern.

Now it shows that they were used with RWD applications.

That being said, I can't find any info on which transmissions those might be. ](*,)

Long story short...being able to yank a 3800 series II thats factory supercharged...for junkyard prices would rock.

Only thing off the top of my head to fit a 60º bolt pattern is the 700R4 from the 2.8L S10. That and the T5s/4-speeds behind the 2.8.

FWD 3800 blocks have the starter on the other side of the block compaired to RWD blocks, it would hit the steering shaft. It would be some work to make a FWD block fit a RWD car. An F-body 3800 Could be made to fit a G-Body easily enough. Keep in mind that Series II parts will not fit the earlier series I 3800's or the "Buick 3.8's" that came in g-bodies.

Im not sure a factory Series II Supercharger will even work on a f-body 3800 in a G-body because of where the intake location on the FWD version, It would be facing the firewall......

It would be sweet if one could pull off such a swap!

You could likely get a s/c kit for an f-body and do it that way shrug.gif
