Lookin' good, Kris. The '78 looks a lot better after just a cleaning. It's nice having two Malibus to swap parts with.

So do i have to introduce myself as a newbie???

Sorry Kris..,,I was close, though. That's a good idea. But remember when we tried to organize a meet, we were the only ones that showed up. At least two of us were dedicated.

    78 malibu control arms

Sammy, I agree with you regarding the use of drop spindles over cutting springs. Heating springs is an old school hot rodders trick....and, not a good one either. You will need to use the S-10 Blazer spindles. Remember, they must be from a 2WD model. There is a difference. Also, S-10...

Previous member back to the G-body family

Having all of the interior plastics and trim parts is big plus. All that stuff is getting more difficult to find these days. At least with seats and door panels, you can substitute seats with ones out of another G-body, F-body, etc. Other type seats, you may have to get creative with the...

    78 malibu control arms

Sammy, You wouldn't need to swap the control arms unless you're considering using S-10 drop spindles for your Blazer dual piston setup. A cheaper alternative may be to use the S-10 5660 or 5658 springs and maybe trim a small amount off of them in order to lower it. a given amount. I forgot what...

It's a bummer that the car was gutted as a racecar. It usually becomes a bit of a challenge trying to fit the car back to streetable roadworthyness. Just continue at your own pace and you'll get there again. I'm sure the big part of is is finding the replacement parts to make it whole again...

    B&M Mega Shifter console change

Reading over this thread again, I see where you're going with this. First, the fact that it's an El Camino, your back and forth movement is limited. The spare tire is what limits the travel somewhat. I understand now. Also, is your spare tire a full size spare which kind of overfills the well...

    B&M Mega Shifter console change

It's pretty much common sense, as Chris explains. You trim and test fit until you achieve desired results. You may also have to shim up the shifter base to get the proper position. It's not difficult.

Previous member back to the G-body family

Sammy, I remember you as well. It's been awhile, hasn't it? It's good to see some of our old forum friends still with us and picking up where they left off. I guess once it's in your blood, despite life altering our path, we seem to make a comeback. Sammy, keep us updated on your progress. I'm...

Sammy, Glad to see that you got the car back after all these years. I'm sure it's in better hands now. Good luck building it back to how you want it. I was looking nice when you sold it initially.

So do i have to introduce myself as a newbie???

Welcome back stranger. It's been quite a few years. I remember you telling me a few years back that you were considering buying it back. I think it was meant to be that you would get ole' 1badbu back in your possession . It's hard to believe it had gone thru six owners since... I like some of...

Restoration of my Malibu,, 79 two door, the fun begins

Matty, Good to hear from you again my friend. It looks like you have your work cut out for you, but the way I look at it, as long as you have your health and willingness to get 'er done, the more power to you. You can't go wrong with a nice 2-dr Malibu body. You certainly can't find them like...

Restoration of my Malibu,, 79 two door, the fun begins

Hi Matty, Good to see you still out there and giving it hell.. It's been awhile, my friend. Do you keep in touch with any of our old buddies (Gary, Jimmy, etc) from the Thunder days? Do you still have your green 4-dr?

Best way to remove speedometer cable from speedometer?

I would say to install it as a unit...sheath and inner cable. I think that's easier than trying to thread the inner core into the sheath while still in the car. That's my opinion.

Proper way to install the new speedometer cable core.

I'd also suggest putting some grease on the inner cable, whether new or used.

    Wagon Rear Bumper Fillers?

Wow Scott! Time flies, doesn't it. I want to start out by thanking Tommy for filling me in on your progress and informing me that he saw you. The car looks great in your Avatar. My car is posted on the G-body Forum. It's actually G-body of the month for July. As soon as you go to the site and...
