    Malibu Racing LIVES!

I'm glad the site continues on. I know things slowed considerably the last few years, due in part to my absence. I'm grateful Chris was willing to help with saving all the information that was gathered over the years. Best wishes to Chris and the site.

    Shutting down MalibuRacing

MR is dead! Long live MR! Hey this is Chris aka GP403, aka your new MR admin. I'm going to close this thread and open a new one now that the site's been transferred and looks like its running. I think. Heck I dunno I just kind of plunked stuff down here and just got it updated, still...

    Shutting down MalibuRacing

The MalibuRacing.com site will be shutting down at the end of the current quarterly billing cycle, which is the end of September. I hate to do it, but I just don't have the time or interest in continuing MalibuRacing.com. I would be willing to turn over data/information to anyone willing to...

    GEN V 454 Swap ?

Pretty sure you won't be able to use the oil pan unless you carve up your crossmember. The front of the pan sump will hit the crossmember. That was my experience trying to use a Gen4 truck oil pan. The GenV 454's are pretty anemic. The heads have really small ports (smaller that older oval...

Instrument cluster and A/C Bracket update

It was completed years ago. No changes over the last several years. My son completed his degree after changing his major 3 times. He is now back home and saving money to buy a house. The Malibu is currently sitting in the garage covered in dust. It has not been driven in a couple years. I...

    Motor Mount Adapter Summary

From what I remember, I located the engine (and motor mount locations) by referencing the transmission mount location. In other words, I installed the motor/transmission together. I then installed the transmission crossmember (Iceman crossmember). This was how I determined the location of the...

    Swapping to gauges in dash

Yes, you can use existing wiring if available. As Doober said, you will need to use the sending unit that is included with the aftermarket gauges. I didn't use the factory wiring since most was replaced due to the EFI setup, which used it's on harness.

Time to fire up the grills! What 'ya got?

I've had a few cooks on my DIY UDS smoker. Here's a few samples: baby back ribs Boston butt cooking on the smoker. Pulled pork from the Boston butt. Chicken Chicken plated up with the wife's potato salad, slaw and red beans and rice with sausage from the smoker. Yum!

    Built my own smoker

I've seen others recommend that. Rodney, I found out quick that it would be nice to have a shelf. I'm definitely going to add one. I'd like to find a Weber lid also.

    Built my own smoker

I've been wanting a smoker for a while. Kinda' hard justifying the cost since I don't grill that often. So, I did some research and found a cheap and easy way to make my own smoker called a UDS (Ugly Drum Smoker). Basically it is a 55 gallon drum with some added hardware to make it a smoker...

    5.3l Alternator

I think it has a lot to do with the motor mount design. I used the transdapt motor mounts and set them about 1" back from stock location. I've seen some people that have grinded the top of the alternator to clear the hood. I have also heard of others adapting or using an F-body alternator in...

    New Floorpans installed - 2/8/10

It was EXPENSIVE. I can't remember the exact number, but I'm wanting to say the guy charged $1800. You could get it done much cheaper, I'm sure. I made the mistake of letting the body shop do it without giving me a firm quote. He said he would "give me a good deal". Boy, was I shocked when...

    Ordered oil pan today

From what I remember, the CTS-V pan hung below the crossmember slightly (maybe 1/2"). I wouldn't have a problem going that route if I was the one driving the car, because I would be mindful of the pan hanging below the crossmember. Since my teenage son is driving it, I decided against it for...

Suspension lean/sag, can't figure it out???

Hmmmm... I relocated the battery to the driver side because of the harness design of the LS engine. I may try moving the battery to the passenger side to see if that helps. I have a friend that sets up roundy-round cars. He has scales, so I can check that out also.

Suspension lean/sag, can't figure it out???

Unfortunately, no. My son is attending college, so the car has been sitting in the garage. I gave him my old Toyota Camry to drive while away at school. I crank the Malibu every now and then to make sure everything is OK. I haven't driven the car lately due to the annoying rubbing...
