7.5 rear ?

Hi, I just picked up a 2:29 posi rear ( free ) out of a 85-86 cutlass, my 81 malibu has a 3:42 open rear. Will the 3:42's bolt on that posi unit, if not can i buy a new set of 3:42's that will work, both are 7.5's. Thanks

Yes to both You can buy an adapter-style gear that will bolt to the 2-series carrier, or a spacer to fit the current gear set. I'd personally choose running an adapter gear.
