Just wondering how much had to be taken out of the driveshaft. I bought what was thought to be a driveshaft for a GN but it's the same as the one that's on the car right now.

See that's where I'm a little confused. My dad looked at it and said it needs to be shortened two inches and even though it's a long slip yoke I'd like to make sure I don't do this wrong. It's just barely doesn't fit into the pinion yoke by about half an inch and that's with the slip yoke all the way in the trans. I think I may measure one more time tomorrow morning.

i have an extra shaft for that application. i had one made out of a stocker one and then i got one from a friend out of his t-type. he went th400 so he bought another shaft. my t-type shaft measures 53 inches total length with out yolk. stock for a 7.5 is 54.25 inches without yolk.

Like said before, 1" is great. I did mine a tad more than that and it makes me nervous even though I'm sure it's fine.

I just had mine cut 1" when I installed my GN rear end, works perfect. It makes it 51.5" center to center. Stock is 52.5" center to center.

Alright cool thanks guy. We were going to get it shortened 1-1/2" but the shaft was way out of balance so they built us a new one to the stock length minus 1-1/2" and we checked the angles to make sure there will be a good amount of yoke in the trans and it will be perfectly fine.
