assembling an hoses

I've been making (slowly) my transmission lines and no matter what i do i still get a tiny leak out of them when i pressure test them in h20.the cutting isn't a problem and the hoses go into the first half of the fitting ok,i'm using a dab of oil.i can't help but wonder where I'm going wrong,if the line doesn't pull out via my mark on the hose when i tighten it, it should be ok.so I've been reading.I've had it go forward INTO the fitting as i tightened it but i didn't think anything of it.any ideas?

The ones that I've assembled the hose has to be fully seated in the ferrel.If I remember right they have left handed threads. Hope this helps,Art
