I live in New England. If you watch closely, a car will rust of as you look at it. The fairly new bumpers are starting to show specks of rust popping through the chrome. Any suggestions on how to clear the rust spots and prevent further rust? ](*,)
Here's what I would do. I would use SOS pads on the front of the bumper. This will get rid of most of the pitting and rust on the surface. After you do this you should go pick up some chrome polish and definitely follow the directions. It's basically like waxing a car. If you want added protection, you could light sand the inside of the bumper and pick up a POR15 Super starter kit. If you coat the inside as directed, you should stop any future rust from the inside out. Just keep polishing it and you should be good to go.
After polishing the chrome, give it a good couple coats of wax, like you would use on the paint. Wax the bumpers often, like once a month or everytime you wash the car. That's about the best thing you can do to protect them.
