OK, so I built a semi race motor it is a 355 with 10.5 to 1, trick flow super 23 heads, victor jr, comp cam xe284h, 750 demon carb, msd ignition 1 3/4 headers backed by a th350 with a 4000 stall and 4.10 gears in a sub 3000 pound car and a set of drag radials 26/8/15. See my issue is that the car has ran a 12.8 at 110 but I feel that the car should be in the 11's so I have been trying to figure out what Im doing wrong when I came across this, My balancer I thought had the mark at Zero then I was reading some things about timing and summit list this "TDC mark is located 10 degrees from keyway". Does this mean that my timing has been off by 10 degree the hole time or does this just mean that the keyway is cut at 10 degrees. I am just useing a mr gasket timing tab. It kinda makes since, but I want to get another opinion and do you think another 10 dergrees of timming could make up the ground I think Im missing on my 1/4 mile times.

does it pull good all the way through? what kind of balancer do you have? i found out the hard way not all 8 inch balancers are the same.

See it feels like it pulls good but I dont know. The balancer is this one http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=PIO%2D872021&N=700+4294925232+4294839044+4294871851+4294908216+400297+115&autoview=sku

The reason I went with this one is cause of the size, the car isnt a malibu, it is in a mazda rx7 it gave me a little more room for the steering rack.

when the motor went together did you make sure it was at tdc when you set the balancer on zero? and if you dont have the adjustable timing pionter your timing might be off. when you put the pedal to the rug does it keep pulling till you let off or does it stop pulling? i bought a new balancer for mine awhile back there 8inch ones, i thought all 8 inch were the same so i used the timing pionter that came with my motor and after alot of messing around i found my timing was about 20-30 degrees out. so you'll need to double check all that stuff.

youll have to bring it on #1 tdc check to see where the pointer lines up with the zero mark on the balancer, you might have to get an adjustable pointer like this one

or this one

there's a good chance your timing is way out of wack.
let me know how you make out.

Oh for sure. my buddy is running a 383 with 300 horse heads ported, vic jr intake 10.5-1 comp, 4500 stall 410's 1 3/4 headers and hes running 12.30's, you've got a much way better set of heads, so i see no reason why your not in that area too.
