Ok, after letting a L92 escalade motor slip thru my fingers I scored a freshly rebuilt LS1 from a 03 corvette with forged pistons with valve reliefs, arp rod bolts ported 241 heads LS6 springs and oil pump, and a ASA Cam. it is roughly 10:1 comp with the milled heads. It came with a LS1 intake, 38# injectors, coils, water pump, brand new clutch flywheel, and a LS1 swap harness with f body computer. any idea what this motor will make for horsepower and torque? should I put in a better cam? I am on the fence about the asa cam as Ive heard both good and bad things about this cam. Thanks for the help!

I'm guessing around 400hp. I'm working on a similar motor build for my V-8 Miata swap. My heads would be very worked over with something similar to an ASA cam and my engine builder is saying 450

I talked to the machine shop that built the motor and they said 425hp to the rear wheels. is there a better cam to get closer to 475 rwhp with out power adders and still be a reliable driver with decent fuel milage?

The GM LS1 Grand-Am cam, I have to find my GMPP catalog to get the pt#. Beware, its numbers are 239/251, .570"/.570" on a 106. Mandatory, major valve reliefs needed and ported heads, preferably 243's, and a LS6 intake. Guaranteed 450+ rwhp.

to get 475 to rear wheels you need to have 525-550 hp at the flywheel and thats not going to happen with a mild cam.

Go over to LS1tech and search around there for the cam i listed to ya. With ported 243's, ported stock throttle body, and the LS6 intake which should be on there if its an original 03' engine, you will see 450+ rwhp.

who runs a 106 lob sep on a ls motor? never seen that...The guranteed 450 rwh seems far fetched to me..my ls1 in my ws6 has a g5x3 cam, fast 90 intake, 80mm tb, longtubes, ported 243 heads from livernois and made 436/400...which is respectable, 450rwh is aftermarket heads territory..

I have been told by several that headers and a tune are worth 50hp right off the bat. Stock horsepower on an 03 vette is 350hp so we are up to 400 flywheel hp and a good cam is worth another 50hp from what most say. I dont know what ported heads are worth for extra horsepower but the heads have also been milled and speed pro forged pistons have been added. I did get on LS1 tech and it seams similar motors with the same cam are making 450-485 at the flywheel, so 400-425 at the wheels. How do you tell a LS1 intake from a LS6? its the original intake off the motor but the guy listed it as an ls1 intake
