I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this or not????

I know there are some fast guys out there...that run the 8.5'' rear.....
I was lookin for some input,,, as to how some of you set up a back brace,,,Or if you really need to?????
I see jegs sells a kit.. that you would fab up and weld on.....
Also, do most of you guys have your axel tubes welded??????
As of now I'm pullin 1.45 60's without them welded ](*,)
Is this something I should look into having done?????Or not yet????
Any help or pics would great.....
Thanks everyone.....

While not mandatory, it is a good idea. The 8.5 has smaller axle tubes than say a 12 bolt or Ford 9", so it's not as strong to resist the bending forces.

Hard to say when/if you NEED it, but who's to say the housing isn't bent already and you don't already know it? Only way to tell is to remove the guts and have a housing jig slid into place to check. If it works fine now, it likely isn't making a noticable difference.

I put one on my 12 bolt when I first built it after seeing a '69 Camaro stock eliminator housing a local chassis shop removed. The axle tubes were severely bent, easy to see with the naked eye. I think the leaf spring cars are easier to bend the tubes though due to how the suspension ties into the housing.
