I started a thread a while back on Muncie/T-10/Saginaw ratios. Easiest way is to look at the input shaft & look for how many rings go around the input shaft (perpendicular to the splines). That should give you the ratio set (my 3-speed is the 3.50 first gear set)

Wow! 3.50 for a 1st gear! That should come outa the hole quiclky. I remember boltin up a 5spd outa 87' T-Bird TC into a 90' LX 5.0 & it had a 3.55 1st & knocked off more than a sec. off mt e.t.. I remember modifying the pilot bearing as they did'nt make 1 yet for that app. I would say my 4spd's 1st is near a 2.89 or so. I'm gonna change the ratio's when I tear it down n freshen it up for my big block. Brian.

Yeah, it's pretty quick in 1st, even for havin' a 2.29 :lol: The math equals roughly the same as a 2004R with a 3.42 1st, and 3rd is the same as 4th on the 2004R. I'm not sure where 2nd is, somewhere in the middle :roll: All I know is I can hit 70mph before shifting into 3rd, but that's pushin' it.
