Monte SS rearend

Whats the deal with the monte SS rearends, some are posi others aren't. Was this an option for the g body monte's. I was just gonna get a monte rearend with posi for this year cause next year I'm doing a 9 in. Who knows the info I need. Thanks.

Posi was an option on Monte SS rears. Mine came out of an '86 and it was open.

Yeah, Monte rears are the same as the rest of the G-Body 7.5s, just had a steeper gear because of o/d + performance.

Some of the montes came with 3.42's and others with 3.73's either open carriers or posi-tracs... Just have to check the glove boxes, look for build codes GT4 and G80, someone help me out... G80 posi, GT4 3.73...

Were the MCSS rears a 7.625" also or was that just in some Regals?

They probably changed to 7.625" when the rest of them (S10/F-Body) changed.
