talked to a local guy that does racecar suspension. he said that if i bring him a 7.5 with all the brackets and the 9" scalped down to bare tubes he'd fab the uppers from 1/4" plate and weld everything up to get it ready to bolt in for 175. the only other thing i'd be out is buying new upper bushings... sounds like a hell of a deal to me. what do you guys think?

looks like he does some killer work if anyone is around the central/eastern ky area.

I need to jump in and ask a few ? cuz I have basically the same thread listed and guys are telling me not to waste my time on a 9. they are saying that a stock 9 will not handle much power on the track. I found a g-body length 9" stock drum to drum for $75. Talked to a local chassis shop told me they could mount the new bracket/ears($150) for $75. Buy a spool $50 and gears $150 and misc parts $100 now I am up to $600. is it worth it.

Yes, I could go out and buy a new fab 9" but that is all the money up front. Going with the stock 9" I can piece it together when I get the money for each part.

I have heard the Chevy guys side now would like to hear from some guys using 9" rearends

never used a 9" BUT mine is heavy! and i dont think i've ever heard of anyone busting one without one hell of a setup. i know a few ls1 guys that run spooled 9's in 6 speed cars and they leave hard... i dont see why it wouldnt be worth it... a bolt in ready 8.5 costs more than that dosent it?
