So I', looking at some 17x8, 4.5 b/s wheels, probably with 245/45s. Half of the posts say they fit, half say they rub like a sumb....

Anybody that can say one way or the other if they fit without frame contact on the rear? My definition of "fit" means no rolling of quarter pinchwelds, use of spacers, etc.

Chances are that a 17x8 with 4.5" of BS is a 0mm offset wheel; 4.5" on either side of the centerline (the lip is usually .5", thus 4.5*2). Lift the rear of the car up (with the jack under the rearend) and remove a wheel. Attach a straight-edge to the drum mounting surface (duct tape should work) and measure 4.82" (245mm=9.645669"/2=4.82") in both directions from the straight-edge; if you clear everything, then your proposed wheel/tire combo will work.

I've got a friend running 17x8s with 245 front and 255 rear tires with no problems. You should have no problems either.

I ran a 17x8 4.5 bs with a 255/50/17 (same as rear on corvette) and had no problems
