i have done the search and read every post but i still cant find the answer. I want to get some jegs weld knockoffs, what i want to know is what back spacing and width and tire size should i go with so they fit my 86 monte. They dont have any 3.5 inch back space witch fits mint. I dont want to notch the frame. The plans for this car are its just going to be a driver until i get my truck finished. So now what i asking is what size and backspace and tire size should i go with with the jegs wheels. Im going to drive the car everyday and want to keep it cheep but i hate the wheels that are on it now. The jegs sizes are:

15x4 with 1 3/4'' bs. I dont think that would be good for a street car

15x7 with 4 3/4'' bs or 4'' bs

15x8 with 5 1/2 ''bs or 4 1/2'' bs

so my question is what would be best for the street and not stick out of the wheel wells? also what size tire would you suggest? the car is 2 inches lower than stock and i dont want to cut anything up. This car will be for sale after my truck is done im hoping within the next 2 years. Thank you guys for the help

what rear end do you have under the car right now? i have a 12 bolt from a 66 chevelle under mine with 15x8 and 5.5 b.s and 15x4 with 1.75 b.s. and they fit perfect. measure the distance from the face of the drum to the inside lip of the fender well that will give you the b.s you need for the rear. i would use a 15x8 rim.

im pretty sure a 15x8 with 4 - 4.5 b.s will work for ya, measure just to be sure though

With a stock width rear 4.5" b.s. 8"wide wheel will only work with up to a 255/60-15 tire and even then will sometimes hit the frame, especially if you have some marginal rear suspension bushings, etc...You can always run spacers but IMO they are dangerous with wheels like the JEG'S copys that use conical seat lug nuts. If you are planning on running any bigger tire you must use 4" b.s. or less wheel. If this is the case you may want to choose another wheel type to go with. Good luck!

On my MCSS I used a 8" rim with 4" backspace with a 275/50X15 drag radial. That is the biggest tire/rim combination you can use without any modification and have the tire under the car. It just clears the frame. I tried it with a 4.5" BS wheel and the tire hit the frame.
The picture in my avatar is a newer setup with a 10" rim and a lot of modification.
