The one thing I would recomend is not spraying the engine especially w a 106 LS cam.
I really don't want to make any recomendations, I can tell you where I have gone and hope it gives you a little insight. I will tell you I have cracked 2 blocks already and suggest hard block. I have a 406 11.8/1 comp w/ angle port bowtie heads 2.02 valves and runners were just over 190cc, Vic jr with a roller cam that had about 580 lift and had dur @ 050 in the 240's on a 110 LS (don't remember exact numbers) th-400 w/ 4500 stall and 4.30 rear. That ran a best of 7.37 1/8th. Thinking the heads were too small changed to a set of Dart Platinums 2.08 valves w/ 230cc runners- Car picked up to 7.20 1/8th and first block cracked. Went back together w/new roller cam 625 lift w/270/276 dur@050 on a 108 LS. Car ran 6.90 1/8th 10.90 1/4. Figured the heads too big cause it was soft on the bottom and traping @125mph. This is when second block went. The engine back together w/new heads 2.05 valves w/ 210cc runners - expecting it to run 6.80 1/8 and 10.70's 1/4 when it goes back in the car. Right now having too fun with a 350 that got thrown together and running fantastic the last 3 years.
