hi. last year i converted my 81 bu to the 1989 s-10 manual steering box with the s-10 pitman arm. seems to be a popular conversion these days. mine is a four bolt cover and i'm not that happy with the results. box is too sloppy and there seems to be no repair kits for these boxes anymore. i also have a saginaw 5679142 65-79 manual box in the garage that seems pretty good and there are rebuild kits for them. also has the pitman arn attached. after the eyeball test the boxes (s-10 and earle gm) seem to be a little different. any of you box experts know if i can put that 1965-1979 manual box (5679142) into the malibu without too many modifications? i have the pitman arms for both and the s-10 arm seems a little different than the early box. thanks . dennysteering box

On the top of the box there is an adjustment. I believe it is an Allen key with a jam nut. Only turn it a hair at a time for adjustment.
