I used to have a 28-10.5 slick on an 8" rim and then went to a 9" rim and gained clearence. I think it's from straightening out the sidewalls.

Would a 10" rim straighten them more without widening the sidewall-sidewall width? And what about an outer beadlock, would that help with any sidewall buldge?

Since your wheel/wheels are narrower than your tread width, a wider wheel should "straighten" the sidewall. Beadlock will have the same result. Finally back to work on the begal?

sorry ill regal! i was settin' you up to help you out, and i had to leave for my dad's for the day. but i was gonna say exactly what hiway said. that and the backspacing on both wheels explains why they both fit. now i gotta get some 9 inchers!
