Both should have the lq9, difference should be in the throttle body, the 02 should have the cable opperated one whie the new one should be drive by wire (sensor where you'll need the gas pedal as well) hopefully that helps you out.

from wikipedia (look up vortec) for the lq9:

The Vortec HO 6000 or VortecMAX is a special high-output version of the Vortec 6000 V8 truck engine originally designed for Cadillac. This engine was introduced in other truck lines as VortecMAX for 2006. It features high-compression (10:1) flat-top pistons for an extra 10 hp (7.5 kW) and 10 ft·lbf (14 N·m), bringing output to 347 hp (257 kW) and 380 ft·lb (515 N·m). LQ9s are built only in Romulus, Michigan. GM also listed it as based on LS architecture.[23]

LQ9 Applications:

2002-2006 Cadillac Escalade
2002-2006 Cadillac Escalade EXT
2003-2006 Cadillac Escalade ESV
2003-2007 Chevrolet Silverado SS
2004-2005 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra Vortec HO Edition Only [Badging on truck](B4V)
2006-2007 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra VortecMAX Option

I also forgot are they 2wd? If so I'd try to grab the trans, should be a 4l60 or 80, if its a 4l80, they are strong and have a really long first gear, but with 4.11 gears in mine, i run about 2500 rpms at 75 mph.

Yessir, here is what I had, and i'll explain a few things after it:

OK, so i finally got out to get the monte on the strip, besides the 95 degree heat taht we had, and the lack of traction it was decent today, beat up a few rustangs and a few imports but heres my best run, cars got 4.11 gears and drag radials were at 17 lbs:

r/t: .275
60': 2.277
330: 5.948
1/8: 8.880
MPH: 83.95
1000: 11.419
1/4: 13.567

MPH: 105.36

Trying to get the tune right, and the transmission working right, it will go up to 6k and 50 mph in first gear, then hit rev limiter before shifting, so i've gotta work that out. Then a good torque converter, and lastly I'm losing timing according to a friend, because the coolant bypass on the front of the motor, goes from passenger to drivers side then from drivers to the throttle body, well i just blocked it off, didn't realize that it would keep steam/heat in the heads and cause the knock sensor to retard my timing. So we're going to fix as much of that as possible, tune it with a mild tune, and see what she'll do, everybody swears mid 12's to high 12's w/o the stall and low 12's with, probably a good driver mod too. But the engine only has those headers from brp and a zo6 cam (02 and up) imagine how it'd react with a FAST intake/throttle body and bigger bumpstick...and some traction eh?
