Wiper Switch Question!

Ok some idiot (me) removed the switch from the dash for my wipers and hooked it up to a toggle switch to only off/high speed. My question is when I turn my wipers off they still keep on moving a little? They seem to be bouncing up and down about 3". Any suggestions?

i would try putting in a 3 position switch, one for low and high and off....maybe that would help, i am not sure how you are getting them to move a little. that makes me think they are not even wired to be Off but they are getting some voltage maybe through the switch. That is very bizarre. can you see if when you take the switch out and just jump the wires it still does this bouncing thing? cuz if it solves the problem it sounds like the switch is bad.

Take a look at this pic from the wiring diagrams on the front page:

Look specifically at the 'wiper/washer control'. I'll be hooking up a toggle + momentary switch for the wipers as well until it comes time to put a delay motor in (have a column for delay wipers but the switch inside is broken), but I haven't done any in-depth looking yet. From what I can tell, the low/high leads need to be grounded when the switch is off in order to 'park' the motor. I currently plug the original switch in when it's needed, and I'll see if I can trace how everything is hooked up with a multimeter one day when I have some time. I'd say if you haven't cut the original connector off yet, just use the original switch for now, and only plug it in when needed so it's not hanging down and smackin' your shins (drives me insane!).

I did however notice that if I ground the switch when it is in the off position it will stop the bouncing! maybe I'm missing something on the ground? I can't plug the factory plug back up because I did cut it out. I removed the switch b/c I removed the factory guages cluster and replaced with an aluminum piece that I made for the pro comp guages to mount. I'll have to look to see exactly what color wires are hooked up to what.
