Anybody tried putting a '84/'85 Monte Carlo SS dash in a '79 El Camino? If so what wiring issues could I expect? Thanks

They should be the same with wiring wouldn't see anything to worry about.

I swapped for an 87 Monte dash in my 78 Elcamino SS. It had the rally gauges so it was fine. But if you are just doing the whole dash and using your gauges, no prob. If you have a sweep speedo, and putting the round style gauges, the I am fairly certain that the plug for the gauge housing will need to get repinned.

There are a few differences like the speakers may be the ones on the ends and not in the center, some courtesy foot lights that come on with the dome lights, also your wipers may need to be on the column and not the dash, unless you use the El Camino bezel and wiper/lights switches.

It's not really a straight foward swap, it'll take some thinking and you'll definately need a test light. If you are using the MC harness with the donor dash, the wire colors are slightly different too.
