12" brake swap (almost) complete

After seeing that shim picture, I'm going with the adj uppers...

I used #14-0809-5r. Ive talked to UBmachine but cant make the guy understand what i want, so i just ordered two of those, and turned one over to the left side.

Back in 04 I did this to my monte. The b body spindle is taller then the stock g body spindle and the stock upper control arm measures 8" from the center of the shaft to the center of the ball joint. So you need a shorter control arm. After talking to UB Machine in 04 I ordered 2)part# 14-0739-5R They measure 7 3/4" center to center meaning you use less shims.

Your frame might not be bent. Let’s say GM did not weld the control arm mounts precisely on every frame.

They didn't weld anything precisely for that matter. There is stuck wire and MIG "grapes" on virtually every factory seam and component on my wagon.

That could be the case...i measured the frame, and dont seem to be bent.

My car required more shims on one side than the other and my frame isn't bent. The alignment guy told me it is very common to see that much error in tolerances in all cars.

Did you face the offset cross shafts on the control arms the same direction?

Today i could try the car at last. Going to the local guy to adjust the suspension, he could do it to factory specs.
The braking power is dramatically increased!! At first try all the things from the backseat landed on my neck.
These project definiately worth it
Now i have new rubber all around (275 Nitto drag radials on the back) the car is glued on the road
Final project is on its way, in a few weeks ill install the 12 bolt rear.
Already ordered the UMI double adjustable uppers for the change, and the not adjustable tubular lowers too.
